Which After Effects versions does it work with?

After Effects 2022 and newer, on Windows and on macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel). The Flex Product Manager download includes both the Windows and the macOS builds.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once and get a permanent license key with lifetime access - there is no monthly fee.

Is the panel on this page the real thing?

It is the real interface, running in your browser as a showcase build: every tab and control is there to click through, but nothing is connected to After Effects, so the buttons do not act on a project. Change its theme and this page recolours with it.

Do the captions need the internet or an API key?

No. AutoCaptions runs OpenAI Whisper on your own computer: no API key, no per-minute fee, and your audio never leaves the machine. The first run downloads the model you choose.

Will it clutter my workspace?

It is one dockable panel. Collapse it into a thin floating strip, eject single tabs into their own panels, or use Edit Mode to hide whatever you never use.

The extension does not show up in After Effects.

On Windows this is almost always unsigned extensions being blocked. The install guide below has a one-click registry fix for exactly that.
