CaptureFlex

See what’s eating your drive. Get it back.

Flex Disk Analyzer maps every file on a disk in seconds, shows exactly what’s taking space and clears it safely: duplicates, caches, forgotten exports, and even the photos you thought were gone.

Scan. See. Clear.

  • Scan: Pick a disk, a folder or a card, or drop a folder on the window. The native scanner reads big batches on twelve threads, so millions of files take seconds.
  • See: The Space Map, the 400 largest files and a breakdown by type show what is really there, down to the last forgotten render.
  • Clear: Tick what to remove. One confirmation lists everything and the space it frees, and it all goes to the Trash, so you can still change your mind.

The whole disk on one map.

Every folder is a ring, sized by what it holds. Hover any slice to see its size, click to dive in, and the colour-matched list beside it shows the same folders in order.

The biggest files, wherever they hide.

Largest Files lists the top 400 under any folder you are looking at, filtered by kind. File Types splits the space into videos, images, projects, audio, code, archives and apps, with the biggest of each.

Identical files, compared by content.

Only files of exactly the same size can be twins, so those are checked: first their first and last 64 KB, then the whole file. Renamed copies are always found; different files that share a name never match.

Clear what grows quietly.

Cleanup measures the usual suspects in about half a second and rates each one, so you know what is safe before you touch it.

  • Safe to clear: app caches, Adobe media cache, Xcode build data, npm cache, logs
  • Review first: installers in Downloads, iPhone backups, local AI models
  • Nothing moves until you press the button

Put it back. Or rescue it.

Every item in the Trash is listed with the folder it came from, so Put Back restores it exactly where it was. Deep Scan reads an SD card, USB stick, external drive or disk image and brings back deleted photos, videos and documents.

Built to be trusted with your drive.

  • Trash, never delete: Every removal goes through the system Trash or Recycle Bin. Moving to another disk copies first, then trashes the original.
  • Protected paths: System folders, disk roots, your home folder and its top-level folders cannot be removed, whatever you select.
  • One clear confirmation: Before anything moves you see exactly which items and how much space they free.
  • Stays on your computer: No account and no uploads. The app never sends your files or your file list anywhere.

Questions, answered.

Is it really free?

Yes. No account, no trial and no ads. It is part of the Flex tools for creators, alongside Flex GUI Pro and Flex ULTIMATE.

Will it delete anything by itself?

No. Nothing moves until you confirm, and everything you remove goes to the Trash (Recycle Bin on Windows), so you can still put it back. System folders, disk roots and your home folder are protected.

Does it upload my files anywhere?

No. The scan, the map and every tool run on your computer. The app does not send your files or your file list anywhere.

Why does my Mac ask for Full Disk Access?

macOS hides some folders (Mail, Messages and other apps’ data) until you allow it. The scan works without it; it just cannot count those folders. Turn it on in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access, then press Rescan.

My Mac or Windows warns me when I open it.

The Mac app is signed with the Captureflex Developer ID but not notarised yet: the first time, right-click the app and choose Open. The Windows installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC": click More info, then Run anyway.

Can it bring back files deleted from my computer’s own drive?

From the Trash or Recycle Bin, yes. Once the Trash is emptied, no: internal SSDs erase freed space straight away (TRIM), and the same goes for encrypted disks. Deep Scan is for SD cards, USB sticks, external drives and disk images. Stop using a card as soon as you notice, and recover to a different drive.

Which computers does it run on?

macOS 12 or later on Apple Silicon and Intel, and Windows 10 or 11 on x64 and Arm64. The Windows version is brand new: if anything looks off, tell us on Discord.
